Hammering

Learn how to create your own patterns on a spun copper cup by hammering. You will learn how to move the metal by hammers and enjoy the patterns appearing on the surface. You will borrow hammers and take your cup home with you.

This is the perfect introduction to working on large scale 3-dimensional metal projects that can also be functional objects.

Suitable for experienced makers. For beginners, please seek advice before booking.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Koichi IO

Metalsmith

Graduated from (BFA) Musashino Art University and (MA) Seoul National University in Metalwork and has exhibited at galleries and art fairs internationally.

Working with the traditional Japanese methods of hammer-raising and colour patination, Koichi aims to re-interpret and re-define these techniques through his work in modern times.
